Ferrite pot magnets
are powerful magnetic
assemblies which are
available in various
dimensions and diameters.
These magnets have wide
applications and are
applicable at temperatures
of up to 200°C. These pot
magnets are encased in a
non-magnetic cup and are
ideal for holding and fixing
applications.
Features
●
Ferrite magnets have structural advantages as
they have limited interior
dimensions.
● They can be housed in a steel pot due to which the magnetic
field can be screened off.
● The
Ferrite magnets can be easily fastened that is
they can be pressed, glued
or screwed.
● Heating of
Ferrite magnets decrease the magnetic force by
30% to 40%. However the
magnetic force is restored
to the normal ambient
temperatures.
NdFeB
pot magnets are made up
of alloys of neodymium, iron
and boron. These magnets
have high magnetic strength
as compared to ceramic pot
magnets. The magnetic shield
to these magnets are
provided by the soft iron
case. The protective
covering over the magnets
provide them with strong
resistance against
corrosion. The
NdFeB
magnets are workable under
high temperature.
The
NdFeB
magnets should not be
pressed directly into iron
as it may cause short
circuit and hence reduce the
adhesive power of the
magnets.
NdFeB
pot magnets can be
recognized by the blue color
on the magnetic side. Just
like other pot magnets they
too posses fastening
qualities, that is they too
can be pressed, screwed and
glued.
Alnico pot magnets
are strong permanent magnets
with great temperature
resistance and are
applicable up to a
temperature of 450oc.
Normally they are housed in
a steel pot having
non-magnetized materials
like brass or aluminium in
between. The magnetic force
get reduced at high
temperature however it is
restored as the pot magnets
get cooled in room
temperature. The alnico pot
magnets are available in
different sizes and shapes.
These magnets are primarily
for gripping applications.
The outer surface of the
magnets can be either
painted or coated with Zinc,
Nickel or Chrome.
Types
Based on the designs and
applications alnico pot
magnets are ctegorized into
following types:
Alnico Deep Pot Magnet
Alnico Shallow Pot Magnet
Alnico Magnetic Holdfast
Alnico Magnetic Foot
Alnico Deep Pot Magnet
Samarium cobalt pot
magnets are powerful
permanent magnets which are
encased in a steel pot and
are workable under very high
temperatures that is 200° C.
The magnetic force of these
magnets are very high as
compared to ceramic magnets
due to which they have good
resistance against
demagnetization. Samarium
pot magnets can be fastened
that is they can be pressed,
glued and screwed.
Despite they have a steel
pot but this also does not
provide any protection
against flowing of magnetic
force out. Thus while making
pot magnet the distance
between the steel element
and the magnet should be
maintained.
Applications
The samarium pot magnets
have following applications:
● Welding moulds of spot-welding machines
● In very small tools
● In various gripping operations
Pot magnets are strong
magnets that are developed
for the current industrial
needs. They are made up of
magnets like NdFeB, SmCo,
AlNiCo, hard ferrite,
plastic, rubber and other
components. These magnets
can produce a magnetic field
on its exclusive surface.
Pot magnets retain their
magnet force indefinitely.
Only increase in temperature
and external magnetic fields
can reduce their magnetic
force.
Features
● These magnets have only one surface of magnetic attraction.
This type of construction
prevents further spread of
magnetic field. Due to this,
other items or machine parts
in the vicinity of the pot
magnets do not become
magnetized.
● These magnets have ability to retain their magnetic force
indefinitely.
● The magnetic force of these magnets are only affected by
the increased temperature
and external magnetic force.
Precautions
● The permanent pot magnets must not be exposed to
radioactive radiations for
longer duration as it might
effect their magnetic
strength.
● This can work within permissible temperature. If
these magnets are used
beyond permissible
temperature limit it might
again affect their magnetic
strength.
